Well apparently its not quite silly enough for one Kirill Rudenko to sell these cans of air for 9.99 each. The canned air is available from several cities around the world.

Just the thought of something like this seems astounding in its self. For one thing, what does one do with a can of air? Open it and hope to catch a breath of whatever city's air? Can it go stale? Or do you just keep it on a shelf in your living room and look at it every day, and think to your self,  "Gosh that's some quality air. The Particular Sadness of Finishing A Good Book

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake is a book by Aimee Bender, about a girl, Rose who has the ability "taste' the emotions of a person in the food they make, something that at first seems intriguing to readers. It soon becomes more of a curse to Rose as she begins to taste her mother' emotions in the food she cooks. With such a set-up as this, you would think that the rest of the book would be about Rose's escapades about her emotion tasting adventures. interestingly enough, the book more focuses on Rose's family, and how Rose sees the world as she grows up.

The writing moves smoothly between the different stages in Rose's life, and really make you feel like you are moving along with Rose and what she experiences in her everyday life, which is not much different than yours or mine.

 "A book with such beautiful writing that sometimes I have to stop and taste a sentence a second time" says Jodi Picoult, author of best seller My Sister's Keeper . I couldn't have said it better my self.

It happens to all of us.....you're on the computer, going to the same old websites, watching the same old videos.....and nothing's happening. You sit there forever, waiting for something interesting to come up. Well, here are five boredom busters from YouTube to get you out of that rut and exploring again...

Serious Business: The Olympic Trials with Sheep Everywhere

Olympic trials are crazy, man, I mean, really terrifying.

I don’t think I’ve seen anything so real and downright scary for a long time. I was just watching some of the gymnastic Olympic trials on Friday night (how cool am I) but I was just amazed by how… intense the competitors were. I heard the commentators saying over and over things like “look at how serious she is” and “she’s being very aggressive, and that may come back to bite her, because as soon as she lets down her guard…” and stuff about all of these tiny tiny tiny tiny technical things…. It was very nerve wracking.

Although, I didn’t really think too hard about all of these things until I saw a girl in a magenta leotard. She did a nice and simple mount onto the balance beam, and was doing some fancy prep for some kind of jump (sorry I have no idea about any kind of technical terminology for gymnastics, or really, anything, don’t shoot me) and the commentators were saying how she was taking too long, and she was being too jittery. I didn’t really see anything that would have betrayed such a thing; her face was still, her limbs were rigid with such a kind of beauty that comes only from practice and enforced technicality; there was nothing my amateur eyes could detect. But then I saw her feet. They were fidgeting something terrible, shuffling back and forth and looking as terrified as I had ever seen any pair of feet. And then, it kinda clicked with me. She was on TV, being broadcasted all over the United States, trying to compete for a spot in a competition that people from all over the world take part in. She was darn right to be nervous! But I can’t imagine, under those circumstances, to be my 110% best in every way. I would probably pass out right then and there.

So for that reason, and hundreds more, I am not going to ever be in the Olympics, or anything resembling such an event. And I’m very sure all of you already know this, but the Olympics are SERIOUS BUSINESS. (That's her below, I think.)

And Now....A Comment on a Comic

Rachael and Penny is a web comic which depicts that tale of 16 year old quirky rock star, Rachael Amps, and her over-worried-for-a-good-reason tour manager, Penny. The flow of the story is nice and quick paced; it’ll keep you interested throughout the archive and will keep you waiting eagerly until the next update (Fridays, for those of you that would like to know). The story isn’t too far along yet, so the archive is easy to catch up on, and interesting to boot. I won’t say too much, so you can check it out yourself at rachaelandpenny.com

Adventures in Wagon-Car-Seat-Jump-Rope-Tow-Bike-Fun-Duck

Today was an off day from the usual summer activities....you know, watching TV, eating on the couch, having positively boring urban experiences.  So, today, we constructed a vehicle out of a Little Red Wagon, an old car seat, a jump rope, and copious amounts of duct tape. The testing was tedious and often unfruitful, however we eventually ended up with a semi-safe model (helmets were required) that was semi-easy to sit in and semi-ridiculous.  We received wonderful feedback from the neighbors as we promenaded and rolled up and down the street.  We would like to take this opportunity to share another pioneer of strange vehicles.  These two fellows constructed a couch-bike and pedaled to their prom in style.  We especially enjoy the ducks at the end.

What did you see from the cheap seats?

We saw Regina Spektor!  Her new album was released May 29, and breathes new life into her already quirky, off-beat music.  Regina Spektor appeared on the Colbert Report, NPR and YouTube Presents to promote her new album, proving she sounds as good in person as on the recording.  She is now touring the world, but I doubt you'll be able to get tickets anymore.  Check out her music on YouTube, and check out the video for Don't Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas).
